Blog 1
Hello,
My name is John O'Mahony. I'm a 23 year old Applied Computing student at SETU currently in my final year. My interests are mainly video games, comic books, anime and gym. So nothing too out of the ordinary for a computing student. My favourite game of all time is between Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3 but since I've played them both to death I mostly spend my free time reading through Batman comics. I've been going to the gym for about 2 years and just enjoy myself while I'm there which is enough motivation for me.
It's been like 5 years almost since I finished secondary school and I'm grateful to still be in contact with pretty much all my friends from that time whom I speak to on a daily basis through Playstation parties, while having made some equally great new friends in college. I get along great with both my parents and my younger brother and I cherish all these relationships more than anything.
When I was looking at previous years blogs I took interest in the HRV project as some of my friends worked on it and the blog " Blog #2 – Heart Rate Monitoring with Micro:bit " stood out to me.
The layout of the blog made it easy to read and engaging as it avoided walls of text and used lists, images and headers to bolster this quality.
The blogger uses pictures to visualise what he's talking about to help the reader better understand what they're explaining and breaks down everything they did in a concise and simple manner, from code blocks to how your heart pumps blood while also providing links to external resources, offering the reader further understanding if they so choose.
I'll make sure to keep this blog and it's structure in mind when writing my own in the future.
As far as new ideas for the binbot project go, I can't exactly say I'm overflowing with creativity but given the emphasis the project has on expressions and giving the bin personality like the multiple axis that allow dynamic head tilting at the sight of different waste products, I think maybe the implementation of further movement such as maybe shuddering at the sight of undesirable waste or straightening up when it sees something acceptable might help enhance that personality, although I do understand this could be over tuning this aspect of it.
